The Problem
Efficiency direct were commissioned to investigate the high water consumption of a golf course in East Sussex. The site had no real understanding of water usage, other than from estimated billing data and the occasional manual readings.
The solution
The main tariff meter and two previously unknown sub meters were identified. This allowed the site to be split up into its constituent areas (Club house and irrigation system).
A temporary, portable flow meter was installed to monitor the water consumption patterns. The data analysis identified a significant water leak.
The outcome
The leak was repaired resulting in a saving of 11m3 per day. This translated into approx. £5000 per annum. As well as this, the client was able to learn a lot about the water system in place at the golf course and is considering fitting automatic meter read facility’s to each meter.
