The Problem

The Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme is a European Directive introduced in 2014 and is mandatory for large UK organisations. We were approached to assist  an existing client, a global management consulting firm based in London to help them achieve ESOS compliance before the nationwide deadline. This ESOS assessment involved carrying out  an energy site survey at the main site in London, as well as energy consumption analysis of the businesses utilities usages including, electric, gas and any associated transport.

The solution

Efficiency Direct appointed a dedicated ESOS Lead Assessor who project managed the ESOS compliance from start to finish. We appointed 2 qualified Lead Assessors, one of whom is a Building Management System (BMS) specialist, to attend the London building to carry out in-depth energy survey which also included analysis of the BMS within the building. Energy consumption analysis was carried out to assess the energy usage of this global management consulting firm and an ESOS report containing energy saving initiatives and recommendations was delivered to the client. The ESOS  report identified 6 energy saving initiatives and estimated potential savings of 986,081kWh (£102,250) and average payback of 0.4 years.

The outcome

The company achieved ESOS Phase 1 compliance by the deadline and lodged their compliance with the Environment Agency. Since then, we have continued to provide  an energy monitoring and energy reporting package for the company and have identified overall energy savings.
